The Store stocks carefully hand selected second hand clothes, shoes and accessories in the best condition. We carefully select designer, vintage and high street pieces to bring you sustainable and beautiful collections. We are #proudlynotnew and #proudlysouthafrican

How did it start ?

Stephanie Venner founded The Store. The Store began in a spare room in Stephanies home and has grown to how we know it today. With dedication and love for vintage fashion Stephanie with the help of loyal customers, has been running a successful and sustainable business since   

Our Store is an environment for all to come together to be themselves and express themselves in the form of fashion.

We are able to run on a consignment basis where we build relationships with our customers and clients.

We knew we wanted to give the beautiful, unworn items in our wardrobes back to others (on average, 50% of the items in wardrobes are never worn. That’s millions of items of clothing just hanging there, taking up precious space).

Everyone loves wearing their friends clothes and swapping items for a season, or a lifetime, so we wanted to bring the theory of a circular economy via The Store.

We were reading about and researching the horrifying effects of the fast fashion industry on the planet (worse than shipping and aviation combined, seriously!?)

We love the idea of playing a role in sustaining our incredible planet. Every item purchased second hand is one less item purchased new. That’s one less item made. If one million women and men bought their next item of clothing second hand instead of new, we would save 6 million KG of carbon pollution from entering the atmosphere.

We combined our passion for style AND sustainability. With curated, conscious and affordable style at its core, The Store was formed and we’ve had a blast in the process.

This is hopefully the beginning of our story and we’re very excited to share it with you.
